Scorecard

The 10th September saw the last of the 40 over calendar for the Aliens, or because of light limitations 35 overs.
NTNUI won the toss and decided to bat first, on an Ekeberg 3 wicket.
A lacklustre warm up was met by an attempt to rally the troops by Thomas Townsend who head butted a cricket ball.
NTNU started very well scoring 70 for 0 off the first 10 overs, one batter contributing 63 of those before he fell to debutant Tom (Australian Tom not the John Terry wannabe) who collected 2 wickets to swing the momentum to aliens. A change of pace from captain Dave saw the introduction of Aaron.D.Hunt (the D standing for destruction), whose very slow spin bowling saw the removal of 4 of NTNUI’s top order with some better fielding from the aliens including Simon behind the sticks and Erik diving at point. Aaron finished his spell with impressive figures of 7.1.27.4. As Scottish Dave and Chris came to clean up the tail the indefatigable NTNUI batters resisted this as they dragged 110 for6 to 160 for 8 including a dismissal from Dave as Erik fielding at long on sprinted round and performed some line dancing with the boundary rope in order to legally catch the ball. The great catch was only met by facetious comment about how he should of caught the easier skyer two balls prior. The NTNUI innings concluded at 181/10 after 32.5 overs.

The second innings started in typical Aliens fashion with Marcus being run out and out top 4 scoring a total of 10 runs. Tomas Townsend was dropped twice off consecutive balls and made NTNUI pay by running himself out. Shahabaz involved in both….

However Damon and Erik steadied the ship and knocked up the score to 78 until Erik was stumped off a wide (stupid law of cricket). However all was not lost as Si, who was recovering before his innings with a visit to Marcus’ street pharmacy made a good 26 including the shot of the day with a spanking cover drive, alongside his fellow Mon man.
That was until 146/6 was reached when Simon was bowled. Damon after 42 brutal balls was in need of banana electrolytes and pharmaceuticals to make his way further in the match. (Games gone)
Captain Dave made his way out however forgot his dancing shoes as he was dismissed from a Yorker 8 balls later.
The time was good and the runs weren’t an issue as aliens needed 8 off 18 for the last wicket to win. With Chris Hinchcliffe at the scene, hope was with the aliens. However the man who lives with the textbook forward defence as a bible was out bowled, flailing at a cover drive just 8 short of the target, leaving Damon stranded on 61*. The end of the competitive season was a solemn ending however much was learnt and good craic was had.

Notable contributions from Aaron Hunt and Damon Crawford
